Tangled up in New Adventures

All the July Clubs (WonderWoman themed !) have been shipped out last Friday and this Monday : I will post photos of the tops, yarns and batts as soon as possible on my Instagram and IxCHeL facebook pages.

I think I will have to stop saying that I’ve been busy or the week has been a full on one, because you know by now that it is a given no matter what…LOL
I did have a wonderful relaxing day last Sunday, my mini holiday, knitting some hexipuffs (only 3.999 to go..lol) and making up some swatches, while reading and watching a bit of Outlander. I am so happy I did a lot of foraging and collecting of plants early in the week because it has been getting colder and colder here in the Yarra Valley hills ! Winter definitely is not over yet and judging by the temperatures there could even be some snow!? Anyway, it was too cold to get my indigo dyebaths started up and lucky for me the eco printing and natural dyeing was done before the cold snap.

On todays blog I have prepared an array of different naturally dyed fibres and yarns for you, including some mini skeins that are awesome to work with either for some hexi puffs, sock blankets or even add them to your stripy socks or scarves as a contrast.

Working on the eco printing and natural dyeing this week as well I thought it would be a good idea to show you how different the tops would look once spun: it all depends on how you spin them and the difference in look is amazing. You can get a totally varied look spinning the eco printed tops as a single or a slubby yarn, whereas pedrafting the tops finely and then spinning them as a fine single before plying them together creates a more dappled and marled look. Looking at how the colours and the top is constructed colourwise before you spin it AND having a project in mind will help you make the best decision on how to spin it up. I have spun half of a eco printed top as a dk weight plied yarn and the other 50 grams as a slubby thick n thin single. Haven’t quite had the time yet to make it into a cowl yet but stay tuned, I will put a photo up of the design next week !

From top to yarn :
one a more uniformly marled DK (8ply weight) weight yarn and the other
a slubby single showing off the imprints

Also, I am already working on some very special yarn/fibre and projects for next week …no…not saying a thing , but it will be exciting and fun.

On this blog you can find some IxCHeL botanical dye range tops (superfine merino, silk and cashmere) together with mini sock skeins and the eco printed IxCHeL sock yarn !

Natural dyeing and eco printing take a lot of time so please know I do not have a huge amount of stock of these available.

Also, every tops and skein are of course slightly different even when the same leaves or plants have been used: they are beautiful to combine and will create a sense of uniformity and natural beauty when combined as with all things that have been dyed using natural dyes. That is just the thing what I love about dyeing with plants: Nature always has a tendency to have everything live in harmony together. Have fun and thank you so so much for your support and being there for our little fibre farm! You are AMAZING !

Happy Hoppy Weekend to all !! Please message me with your wishes and your postal address on facebook, Instagram or ravelry or you can also email me on ixchelbunny at yahoo dot com dot au and I will get straight back to you with all the payment details.
