The Show goes on !

It has been two weeks since my last “confession” and I have sinned….no ..let me rephrase that….lol…I have skipped a blog update for a very very good reason: BENDIGO SHOW !!! It was absolutely amazing !

A huge thank you to all the organisers and volunteers at the show who made this all happen and also a huge thank you to Bree and Teagan of the Elisabeth Murdoch college , who have proven that yes, you can build a skyscraper of fibre !

It was an amazing experience being at the show again and seeing so many friends and fibre addicts and laughing and having an all round excellent time ! It was AMAZING!!! There, I said it..again ! lol

I was extremely happy to enable with new Navajo Spindles from the Lair of the Bearded Dragon made from ancient 45000 year old Kauri wood !!! and hand painted police box spindles !!!

THe new blend TUNDRA with 25% qiviut sold out in a day and a half, the batts sold out in a day not even, the pre felts were gone on sunday ! and ofcourse so were the Navajo spindels and the police box spindles! (I am taking orders btw for the Navajos, the police box spindels and the very special mulga slab supports)

Pictures will certainly say more than words so here they are: a slide show of Bendigo show fluffy goodness to be had in the Flower Shed !

And then, something very very important!!! At the show, every year , I have a raffle: Everybody who spends $75 or more gets a raffle ticket number and has a chance to win!

This year I am donating a $300 worth pack with fibre and yarns and a very very special Lair of the Bearded dragon phang made especially for the Bendigo Show winner !!!!

Here it is in all its glory on my handwoven alpaca scarf. It’s made from Budgeroo which is a very special rare wood from Queensland!

Hectic Schedules and rainbows

Hectic: Adjective
  1. 1.
full of incessant or frantic activity.
    "a hectic  schedule"
    frantic, frenetic, frenzied, feverish, manic, restless, very busy, very active, fast and furious;
lively, brisk, bustling, buzzing, vibrant, crowded

Yes, all of this applies to me at the moment.. the studio is more than crowded, I am frantically running here there and everywhere from dye pot to painting stool to printing to packing to ..aaaargh!And once again I am confronted with the devil on my shoulder: its always this way.No matter what I do or where I go or what show I do I start with these "brilliant" ideas, actually put them in place, make it, do it and then look at it and say to myself " I don't have enough!, or Will they love it? or well, generally just doubting your self..for just about anything. It is like running a marathon!!!

Well, Bendigo show if almost there. I leave on Wednesday to be ready to set up on Thursday..i still have badges to make, batts to do and lots and lots of packaging, labelling and little things. I have not had time to breathe, dye my hair or take even remotely good care of myself or relax. Saying that , I honestly believe I am not the relaxing kind.
If you tell me to relax I will do just the opposite just to spite you. If you tell me  "take it easy!? You will have to hit me over the head with a take it easy hammer ..before I will get the meaning.  I tried. Even when I was sick  , I could not take it easy..there is this energiser bunny in me that just does not stop.  I blame my brain. Its my brain that gives me these mad ideas and it just does not stop. Anything ranging from  a new recipe, to a new fantastic idea for a spindle (read Timey wimey police box spindles) to workshops plans in gorgeous Tasmania  to well...anything really.. I don't stop. Apparently I have no "off switch" ...somebody somewhere forgot to add that to me. I am sure that an=t onbe point this will back fire and I will have a total system failure and will spend a large amount of time in "switch off" mode trying to fix the dilemma...until then ..I am and always will be your energiser bunny.
Mind you, Im sure it drives people absolutely mad. I am always "ON" never "OFF" ..to people adhering to a 9-5 regime this is totally maddening and slightly  terrifying. Me? well, I just GO! all the time...lol..wondering why really. Mind you I have been doing this for quite some time now. It is not like I just discovered it or just realised it. My system has been on "GO!" for practically all my life...and its not like I am 18...not anymore ...

Bendigo SHow is almost upon us. I will be setting up next Thursday and I still have a truckload of things to do. Yes, I know, I am afraid I will not have enough to please you all..and then , come Wednesday , when it is time to pack the Tardis, I will have to come to the conclusion I need a second tardis coz I can't fit it all in...that's life..well, my life...a strange and magical place, wedged in between a mount Everest of Fluff and the desire to enable as many people as I possibly can..

For this weeks update some new freshly dyed long colour repeat yarns:

The shawls you see above is called a Citron shawl and the pattern is free and available on Ravelry. I only used 140grams of the 4ply yarn in Rainbow and it is truly Huge ! I knitted it on needles 4, but I would knit it on 5mm next time to make it even bigger and a bit more open.

Or you could knit these amazingly cute mitts with the rainbow 4ply , just starting from the opposite scale of the colour spectrum when doing the intarsia !

So, this week it is all going to be focussed on yarn…the looong repeat yarns and my handspun bunny mink in three different colourways: a natural, a white and an absolute superb grey tone..YUMMM!

I have not had time to dye my handspun pure 8 ply angora  or the 3ply bunny mink (yet) but I didn’t want to deprive you , so I will offer it in virginesque white and naturals this week.

If you are not particularly fond of naturals, well, just ask and I can dye it for you in any colour or colourcombo you want. I will be spending all weekend at the dyepots, not only for all the clubs and shows but also for custom orders.

All the dates and information for the shows and events to come are at the bottom of this weeks “Dates to put in your Calendar!” - bit. There is lots of new exciting stuff planned.

Have a fun weekend and happy spinning, knitting, weaving and crocheting !
